Sisters... Are You Silently Committing Suicide?

I attended a function recently, and was astonished at the number of young overweight sisters in the room. I don't mean pleasingly plump. I'm talking about F A T to the tenth power...rolls, jelly, muffing tops…and they had the nerve to have on spandex!! What's happening to us? Are we so depressed that we stopped caring about what we eatand how we look?
I can personally identify with being depressed and trying to eat away your misery. One day I took a long look in the mirror and I didn’t see me. In fact, I didn’t recognize the 55lb. overweight person staring me back in the mirror. At that moment, I was shocked that I had let myself fall into an abyss that was cutting my life short. So, I made a declaration to myself that I could and would do better.
The first thing I did was to analyze what was causing me to gain weight. It was my mindset and my behavior. I realized that I was the hostess at my own pity party, eating the wrong food, and laying in the bed. This is a recipe for fast weight gain!!
So, I challenged myself to change my life by changing my behavior! What worked for me was to stop eating “white food”, (rice, grits, white bread, white potatoes, corn), dairy products and wheat products. My diet consists of chicken, fish, red meat once a week, nuts, dried fruit, fresh fruit, grain bread and vegetables. I also watched my portion size and increased my water intake.
I am happy to report that my blood pressure lowered and my sugar level also lowered. I feel great! My energy level has increased and now I want to make every day an adventure!
I shared my story in hopes that it will inspire my sisters to do better. Fat rolls do not look sexy in spandex! There is hope and you can be the best that God has intended you to be! LOVE and PEACE
