PovertyI live in one of the richest countries in the world but I live in poverty. What is poverty? If you must ask that question, that means you haven't been paying attention. It means you do not have a clue to what is really going on. Is poverty a small group of people or is it a large group of people? Why aren't we doing more to wipe out poverty, just as we are doning to wipe out cancer? Poverty cannot be wiped out because that is the way God created the world. Well, if you took that attitude what good would it do you to get out of bed in the morning? What will you do to get out of poverty? People do some wierd things for the love of money. As long as you are working for money, you will still be in poverty. Just look at the economy of one of the richest, most intelligent countries in the world. Most people there live in proverty and it is just a way of life. The worse part about poverty is seeing those around you having what YOU need and you cannot get it. It so close but yet so far. Do realize the number of people who perish because they cannot get the help they need? Who's fault is that? It seems they have all the opportunities, but because of from where you come or live, those same opportunities are not available to you. Why? You pay taxes, you abide by the law and you have a high school diploma, but you still cannot have your dream job. It's kind of like the right to vote or you can compare it to intergration or cliques, special interest groups, CEO's, Oil people. There are just some cliques that will not let you in, if they do not accept you, because of your skin, age, weight or nationality, neighborhood, insurance, credit score. It seems this group of people are doing everything in their power to keep you in poverty. How can you save? Most of us are one pay check away from financial disaser. How can that be a stable economy? People who had to work so hard for their money, do you think they are going to share? That is one attitude that keeps us in poverty. Sad isn't? Why can't poor people come out of poverty? They will not pay you enough money to get out of poverty? Does the lack of money keep us in poverty? No, it's our attitudes. Is it that poor people are unable to work together? Are we so jealous of one another? Can we not organize? Do we have a desire to prosper? Why do poor, the poorest of the poor, fall for all the material trickery? Why would we rather spend all our money on rediculously over priced cars, houses, toys, fancy trips? Why is our whole economic process so cruel and complicated? Why aren't we doing more to make every person feel welcome, an important member of the team. Isn't that true prosperity? Fighting poverty is one of my goals and always has been. My question is how do I do that without a dime, when I live below poverty myself? What do I make, how do I contribute? One way I plan to do that is to have a farm. Until, I will learn from some of the best. I encourage people to work together, starting with listening and acting according to their own thinking instead of the thinking of others. In more well-to-do countries people are fearful to help those less fortunate because of the status quo. It's the way the world views fighting poverty. We are fearful of getting in over our heads. I hope people do not find that in me. Help me not be greedy. I saw this ad and am promoting it: Our mission is to get millions of people out of poverty quickly, cost-effectively and sustainably. And, in doing so, change the way the world fights poverty. Kick Start.org your inner voice.com
1 Sam 2:7 (NIV) The Lord sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts. Prov 30:8-9 (NIV) ...Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, "Who is the Lord?" Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.
If poverty is accompanied by physical dangers, prosperity is accompanied by spiritual dangers. God will often move us through both for the purpose of testing us. Phil 4:11-13 (Phi) ...For I have learned to be content, whatever the circumstances may be. I know now how to live when things are difficult and I know how to live when things are prosperous. In general and in particular I have learned the secret of eating well or going hungry--of facing either plenty or poverty. I am ready for anything through the strength of the One who lives within me. Phil 4:12 (NAS) I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. Phil 4:12-13 (Jer) I know how to be poor and I know how to be rich, too. I have been through my initiation and now I am ready for anything anywhere: full stomach or empty stomach, poverty or plenty. There is nothing I cannot master with the help of the One who gives me strength. |
