Is Saying "Hello" Painful?

Does saying "Hello" to a fellow human being cause a person to experience excruciating pain? Or does speaking to someone who looks like you bring shame? I ask these questions because I was brought up to speak to people. My grandmother would always say "Hello is not harmful to anyone, if it does anything, it brightens up a person's day to be recognized."
So, what's wrong with us? Have we gotten so caught in the negative media news that we think everybody is the bad guy? I've even noticed that the people you see at church on Sunday clapping and shouting all over the pews won't speak to you on Monday. What is that all about?
I would be remised if I didn't mention my so called "educated" friends who have two coins to rub together and a mail box full of bills. They act as though speaking to people is a disease. What's happening to us? In 2008 when Obama won the Presidential election, everybody jumped on the black band wagon. Where are my brothers and sisters now?
Surely, we didn't think Obama had magical powers and could make us all rich! When he talked about "change", it didn't mean we turn our backs on each other. It meant we needed to come together and work together to make the world better for everybody. There are no big I's and little U's. We all need each other to make this world a wonderful place for all of us.
