Good DeedsWe are all looking for ways to jump our lives. Like the question, How do you eat an elephant? One bit at at time. This understanding must accompany every gesture of help to our neighbor, avoiding it becomes a means to make ourselves the center of attention. Most are expecting stimulus in the form of money, coming down from on high. That is good and a great idea, but if not properly managed, would not it lead to the same old dead end? The money does not come first, but living a good life without money, does. Having a place of permanence in the middle of life's uncertainties and having the assurance of receiving the proper provisions are based on two very clear principles: Faith and Doing Good Deeds for/to others. When we live by those two commitments, we learn to depend upon life and love in fresh new ways that bring us refreshment, hope, and new joy. Doing good deeds and sowing good seeds are like bread cast on the waters, they come back to you. The good deed you do today will benefit you or someone you love, at the least expected time. It will come back to you. If you never see the deed again at least you will have helped to make the world a better place. After all, isn't that what life is all about? Time is short and you are my hope! |
