University of Notre Damepublic act of disobedience" and "a grave mistake", Why?The nation's most-prominent Catholic university and the world's most prominent President? The University of Notre Dame has a tradition of inviting new presidents to speak at graduation. But this year's selection of President Barack Obama has been met by a barrage of criticism that has left some students fearing their commencement ceremony will turn into a circus! Why hold a grudge? His decisions to provide federal funding for embryonic stem cell research and international family planning groups, many Catholics are "HOT". The first things to come to my mind are the endurance and acceptance of slavery and racism in America. Why doesn't that anger them? How many and how long others have had to endure the presence of people and Presidents, we do not necessarily agree with and in some cases they meant the people, as a whole, no good, like it or not? Is it all about power and control? In this case we are talking about the President of the United States and a pretty good one at that, like it or not. Though he has his hands full dealing with "our economy", why make an issue of this? Why even bring up this issue with your graduation, when there are so many more needy humble people in the world? Oh say can I see! Where is your forgiveness? What does it mean to be a Christian when things do not go your way? Where are your Christian hearts; Duty, honor, Country? Or is it just s... Just look at what you are complaining about? How many young people are killed everyday in defense of this country? In Iraq alone? Think about it! If you were pleased with the presence of former Presidents, I am sure you will be elated over the presence of this President? Who are the only people that can turn your graduation into a circus? I do see a change taking place and that is GREAT. No change or progress without conflict. Now I see, Peace and Prosperity! Thanks for sharing. Art Where is the Pope? Why Angola, One of the World's Fastest-Growing Economies? Condemning Africa! |
