Surviving to Thriving

Slaves and captors

After more than 400 years of slavery, the slaves and their descendants will be issued the deed to a lush, plentiful land they can finally call home. Until now all the slaves owned had been provided by their captors. Slavery had crushed their will and destroyed their initiative; consequently they had to be broken of their reliance on people rather than God. Manna, what is manna? People dependency can make you vulnerable and stunt your growth.

God does this, but the people themselves must be willing to work for and towards their own independence. To achieve this, we must break the comfort of the familiar, while this season is over and you can not go back.

When God says, Increase and possess the land, His plans for you will take you from surviving to thriving. You will wean yourself of people-dependence and on to God-dependence. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves...but our sufficiency is from God. Out of your comfort zone, expect to go through unfamiliar, anxiety-producing territory. It is the only way to go from surviving to thriving.
