American politics and Institutions2011 American politics is sharply polarized, and faith in our institutions greatly diminished, what should I do?At this moment,2011 American politics is sharply polarized, and faith in our institutions greatly diminished. I think about these things. I already know them, but when you heard other people say them, that's a confirmation. How are you supposed to understand good behavior, when everything we do encourages bad behavior? Don't you see that? That's like the myth about lemmings. Is that not a valid question? IF you take a look at our economy, how can any of us call ourselves "doing good"? What should we do? A better question is what's going to happen if we do not change? A good indicator would be what's happening now, as we fail to do what we know we should. Stand in the other person's shoes; see through their eyes; understand their pain. I try that, but the system does not allow for this type behavior. Currently, we promote questionable behavior and denounce good behavior and that is the illusion, at which we are very good. So why do we glorify the words of Martin Luther King and Barack Obama? It’s our duty, as Americans and human beings to fight against poverty, even if we are well off; to care about the child in the decrepit school even if our own children are doing fine; to show compassion toward the immigrant family, with the knowledge that most of us are only a few generations removed from similar hardships. Are we too far gone to turn around? I do it but there is a high price to be paid, for never having any money. How do you survive without money? Well, first you must understand why you are not an active player in our current polarized and greatly diminished system. It's like going against the grain. If you are an active player, you might want to change, in order to save yourself. (((your inner voice.com))) |
