AgingBoy, does time fly, I was just twenty the other day. Are older people valued? We're trip aren't we, especially when it comes to "telling our real age"? What good does it do to lie about your age? Why did you make that way? Let us just say prior to the age of fifty, aging is a happy go lucky kind of affair. The attitude is, time has no boundaries, no limits, very few aches and pains, very little sense of urgency. Lots of energy with lot of stupidity. For those of us who are fortunate enough to reach the age of fifty, bithdays become a milestone. Our views of aging start to change. The risk of disease and disability clearly increases. More wisdom, but less energy. So we become more serious about how we spend our time. Well, that is forty years too late. Reaction time slows, but knowledge and wisdom grows. You hear people say, well you are young, you have plenty of time. Be careful because it will be over with before you know it. With earlier age awareness, think what can happen? Older people make positive contributions to society but more people but more needs to be done to ensure older people are valued. We would be more productive citizens and much of the foolishness we experienced as youths would not be so. Are we too scared to ask for help? Aging is much more than a number, it is full of wisdom and change based on experience. Aging is beautiful and transforming. By calling this "new age" we have made the first age obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear. Just like knocking down the old and building new.
